Baseball falls to Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The baseball team lost 9-1 at Spalding on Monday. Rightfielder Max Gabriel went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Greenville allowed one run in the first, four in the third, and two in the fourth as Spalding accumulated a 7-0 lead.
The Panthers got their run in the fifth when Gabriel singled to score Dalton McFarland who had reached earlier in the inning on a base hit.
Spalding added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Dillon Reel was the losing pitcher as he worked five innings and allowed eight runs, three earned, on seven hits and three walks. He struck out three.
Devin Mayfield gave up one run in one inning, and Jason Collingwood and Michael Wittmer threw one inning each of scoreless relief.
The Panthers (7-12, 5-4 SLIAC) face Webster at GCS Ballpark on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a doubleheader.
