GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville College baseball surrendered the final contest of their four-game homestand as NCAA DII McKendree University cruised past the Panthers 22-7 in Tuesday afternoon’s slugfest.

Starting sophomore lefty Cody Hinterscher was dealt the loss, walking six of the ten batters he faced in the first with eight runs eventually earned.

The Bearcats of MU (3-9) sent 16 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring 11 runs. McKendree poured on the runs in the second, third, and fourth frames, eventually hammering their way to a 20-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Greenville (0-5) got on the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to 20-2. McKendree answered in the top of the sixth, delivering a two-out, two-run double for a 21-2 lead. The Panthers plated a run in the bottom of the sixth before the Bearcats closed out their big offensive outburst with one more run in the seventh inning. The Panthers scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to account for the final 22-7 margin.
