Baseball tops Fontbonne in back-and-forth affair, 4-2

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- Greenville College outlasted Fontbonne on Thursday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 4-2 win at Robert E. Smith Field.

Greenville College took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. Greenville College scored on an RBI single by Dalton McFarland off Jacob Becker, bringing home Ryan Smith. An RBI single by McFarland scored Smith to give Greenville College the lead for good.

Matt Reinholz had a hot bat for Greenville College . Reinholz went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, fourth, and eighth innings.

Derek Reckmann picked up the win for Greenville College . Reckmann allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings of work.

Greenville College jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Dylan Goldsmith singled to ignite Greenville College 's offense. A single by Kenny Trager then moved Goldsmith from first to second. Reinholz singled, plating Goldsmith.

Fontbonne scored two runs of its own in the first. Fontbonne scored on an error and an RBI single by Alex Roedner.
