Baseball Tripped Up By Webster in Slugfest, 17-12

GREENVILLE, Ill. Offense ruled the afternoon on Wednesday as Greenville battled SLIAC opponent Webster University in an inter-conference showdown. GC surrendered the final contest of the seasons three-game set, 17-12, on a warm and windy day at Robert E. Smith Field.

At the plate for the Panthers, both seniors Daniel Covert and Kyle Hobar notched homeruns in the defeat. Covert went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and a homer, while Hobar batted 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBI, and a jack of his own.

Sophomore Derek Reckmann took the loss for GC, pitching five innings with 13 earned on 15 hits.

Greenville Baseball (4-15, 3-2 SLIAC) will return to the diamond Friday, April 8, as they duel Blackburn College at Robert E. Smith Field at 3:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on air and online on WGRN 89.5 FM.
