GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team split their final two games with Westminster on Saturday, losing the first game 2-0 but winning the second 7-6. The Panthers have won the three game home series against conference opponent Westminster after shutting them out on Friday.

The opening game saw the first five innings go scoreless, with Tyler Mitchell pitching for the Panthers. He threw six strikeouts on the day. Greenville did not see their first hit until the bottom of the fifth, and they would only add one more the following inning. Westminster scored the only two run of the game during the sixth on a double down the left field line.

Greenville started the next game with a run in the first inning off a double by Tim Osborne. The Panthers added two more in the third with another RBI from Osborne and one from Dylan Bone.

However, Westminster answered with four in the fifth, one in the sixth, and another at the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Trevor Montgomery hit a two run homer to left field for the Panthers. Greenville added two more unearned runs in the eighth and finished the game with a 7-6 victory.

After the series with Westminster, Greenville is 5-2 in conference, and a game shy of .500 overall with an 8-9 record. The Panther hope to pick up another victory when they travel to Eureka on Wednesday, April 2.
