Big Weekend for Panther Volleyball

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Lady Panthers had a successful weekend, beating Principia 3-1 and overtaking Webster 3-0 shorty after.

Saturdays schedule was a mirror image of the 2011 conference tournament, Greenville would play Pincipia followed by Webster, but this years match ups would have a much different out come. Greenville lost the first set of the day to Prinicia 20-25, that would also be the last set Greenville would lose. The Panthers closed out the next 3 sets 25-18, 25-21, 25-22. Greenville's Ansley Devrieze came alive today vs. Prinicipia having 6 big kills in the second set an totaling 15 in the match, that is the season high for any Panther this season. Devrieze also had a team high 2 aces and added 12 digs and 4 block assists. Schaeffer added 10 kills to the offense followed by Gall's 9 kills and 5 block assists. Ellen Lueking ran the offense with perfection contributing 41 assists and defensively she had 17 digs. Jamie Schollenbruch headlined the defensive effort with 25 digs.

The second match of the day would put the Panthers against the defending SLIAC tournament champs, Greenville had their way with the Gorloks defeating them in straight sets 25-18, 25-20, 25-20. Tough serving, efficient hitting and ball control propelled the Panthers to a victory. Gall set the tone early with 6 kills in the first set alone, she would finish the match with 9 kills 1 block solo and 2 block assists. Coon would add another 8 kills while Devrieze and Schaeffer each had 6. Devrieze also led the team in digs with 12, followed by Shaeffer with 11. The Panthers had 2 block solos and 16 block assists, Kendrick led the way with 6 block assists, Schaeffer would add 4, followed by Coon with 3.

The panthers are now 7-5 and undefeated at 3-0 in conference play.
