Calling: What God Did With "Too Afraid, But Willing"

Published: April 13, 2021

Calling: What God Did With Its surprising where an honest confession about fears can take you. A case in point is this account from Richard Innes 64:

Years ago I was stopping over at Hawaii returning to my then home in Australia and remember vividly telling God that I hated witnessing because I was too afraid, but I was available for Him to use if He so chose.

During the flight, a man got up from his seat and sat down in the empty seat beside me. I was reading a book and this man, after introducing himself, said to me, "What's the book you're reading?"

"It's a book about the second coming of Christ," I replied.

"Do you believe that Christ is coming to earth again?" he asked.

After I told him that I did, he replied, "That's interesting. Will you please tell me all about it!"

Exponential Impact

I've been witnessing for Christ ever since, mostly via the printed page and in recent years via the electronic media. From our U.S. and Australian offices of ACTS International we have seen 43 million of our printed gospel brochures distributed by several hundred churches, some individuals, and many military chaplains. More than 100,000 were even ordered by a chaplain at the Pentagon. Our main website today is http://www.actsweb.org and we have well over a third-of-a-million subscribers to our weekday e-mail devotional, Daily Encounter. Since going online in 1998 we have received 40,000+ decision responses for Christ from 164 countries that we know about. According to Google statistics we have, on average every month, visitors to our gospel websites from 194 countries and territories.

We are so grateful to God for the wonderful privilege we have for reaching so many people worldwide with the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Something Ive come to learn about calling

I believe God will use any Christian who will make him or herself available for God to use.

Also . . .

I also want to add how tremendously grateful for the excellent training I received at Greenville College over a half-century ago. And at age 83 I am healthier than when I was half my age and trust and pray that I can keep publishing the gospel until the day the Lord calls me home as I have no desire whatsoever to ever retire.
