Digital Media students at Greenville College become content creators in a world run by technology. They learn how to critically think as well as work on complex projects integrating graphic design, digital music, web based digital communications and internet development skills. Recently, seven GC students, The Vista magazine staff, and a GC professor earned awards at the American Advertising Gala in East Peoria, Ill. for their hard work and dedication to excellence in digital design.

GC junior, Logan Nelson, earned an astounding seven Gold awards. Nelson was awarded two Golds for Cinematography, two Golds for Still Photography, one Gold for Television and two Golds for his Publication Cover design for "The Vista".

Katie Wallace, a GC senior, was awarded a Gold and won the Judge's Choice title for a digital art poster titled "Lowborn" and a Silver for another poster titled "Vessel."

Senior Rebekah Dothager earned a Silver award for her Infographic poster design titled "The House of Hogwarts" and senior Aaron Phillips took home a Silver for Television. Junior Anna Brannon earned a Silver for photography as well.

Recent graduates Jake Cannon and Austin Stephens were also acknowledged, Cannon and Stephens both earned a Silver for Animation. Stephens was awarded an additional Gold for Television.

AIGA Greenville College Faculty Advisor and "The Vista" Faculty Design Advisor, Jessa Wilcoxen, earned a Gold award for animation. Wilcoxen was awarded the Gold for a piece she created as a design consultant for her company, Creative Spark. The animation explains the use of a new product called InfoSAGE, which is sponsored by a grant from the National Science Foundation. InfoSAGE is created by the Division of Clinical Infomatics, a Division of the Department of Medicine at Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, clients of Wilcoxen. Wilcoxen remarks, "The product, InfoSAGE, is a tool to help families communicate and coordinate regarding the care of senior members (i.e. aging parents)." Wilcoxen worked in collaboration with GC graduate Taylor Likes to create the piece.

Award-Winning Greenville College Student PublicationsThe awards do not end here. "The Vista" earned 3 awards: 2 Golds (1 for the 2015 spring publication cover and another for the 2015 fall publication cover) and a Silver for the overall issue.

All Golds will automatically go on to be judged at the Distract (Ill., Ind., Mich.) level in March. Greenville College is proud of all the hard work from the DM students and faculty. For more information, visit the GC DM website.
