Football Handles Westminster 28-7

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team ran off 28 unanswered points as they topped Westminster 28-7 on Saturday in Greenville. The victory upped Greenville's perfect record to 9-0 and set up a showdown with St. Scholastica on Saturday for the UMAC championship.

Westminster was the first team to put points on the board as a 24-yard pass from Joe Plassmeyer to Austin Kempker led to a touchdown in the first quarter. Greenville tied the score at 7-7 on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Brendan Chambers to Shawn McKnight midway through the second quarter.

In the third quarter, GC rattled off 21 points as Jacob Stull ran for a one-yard touchdown, Zibeon Washington rattled off an 89-yard touchdown run, and Nicholas Newton caught a 20 yard pass from Chambers for their final touchdown.

Washington led the Greenville offense as he ran for 202 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. Stull produced 102 rushing yards on 16 carries and another contributed a touchdown.

Chambers was 9-of-18 passing for 108 yards and two touchdown strikes, connecting for 40 yards and a touchdown with Newton and 10 yards and a touchdown with McKnight.

The Panther defense was paced by Anthony Moore, Nicholas Morrow, and Jon Uperesa with five tackles each. Moore collected an interception that he returned for 54 yards, and Uperesa produced three quarterback sacks.

The Panthers (9-0, 8-0) square off with St. Scholastica on Saturday at noon in the final regular season game for both teams. The winner will go to the first round of the NCAA championships on Saturday, Nov. 23.
