Football rallies to defeat Iowa Wesleyan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa The football team secured their first win of the season with a come-from-behind victory at Iowa Wesleyan. The Panthers won 38-27 behind three rushing touchdowns by Hamid Camara and two touchdown receptions by Samuel Northey.

The Panthers scored first, taking a 7-0 lead with Northeys first touchdown of the day, a 17 yard pass from Jacob Tibbetts.

A 40 yard fumble return by Iowa Wesleyan cut the lead to one point as Iowa Wesleyan failed to convert the extra point.

A Bradley Stubbs 25 yard field goal put the Panthers back on top by four, but two touchdowns by the Tigers followed.

Greenville went into halftime trailing by three, thanks to Camaras first touchdown with 5:54 remaining in the first half.

Iowa Wesleyan pushed their lead back to 10, but the Panthers scored two unanswered touchdowns by Northey and Camara to give Greenville a four-point lead.

Camara scored his third touchdown with 5:08 remaining in the game.

Jacob Stull was Greenvilles leading rusher, taking 26 carries for 123 yards.

Camara had 17 carries for 110 yards.

Northey posted three receptions for 67 yards, and Tibbetts was 12-of-14 for 133 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Greenvilles defensive efforts were led by Robert Deering with 12 tackles. Deering and Lincoln Johnson posted a sack, and Joey Silva had seven tackles and two sacks.

The Panthers (1-2, 1-1 UMAC) face Westminster on Saturday at home at 1 p.m.
