GC Band Performances on March 9 and 12

On Monday March 9 at 7 p.m., the Greenville College Concert Band presents its annual orchestral transcriptions concert. Feel the fireworks as you enjoy this years major work, Tchaikovskys The Year 1812, commonly called the 1812 Overture. The performance in the Whitlock Music Center is the third of four concerts in the concert bands 2014-15 series.

On Thursday, March 12, at 7 p.m., the Greenville College Jazz Band rings in spring with big band and modern swing, also in the Whitlock Music Center. This Crooners Concert will showcase vocalists Aleah Jenkins and Kent Luster along with the rest of these superb student musicians performing some of your favorite hits of the swing era.

Both concerts are free and the public is invited to attend. The Greenville College Bands are under the baton of Professor Will Fairbanks. Since his arrival at Greenville College in 2010, the instrumental music program has grown to include the GC Jazz Band and the Panther Corps Marching Band in addition to the concert band.
