GC Football Faces Tough Loss

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Panther football team lost a tough game to St. Scholastica, 45-3 as the Saints forced 5 Panther turnovers.

The first quarter proved to be a good one for Scholastica, as they finished it up 14-0. Touchdowns were scored by Tyler Harper, who ran 13 yards, and Cory Gebhard, who caught a 10 yard pass from Harper.

The second quarter proved to be similar to the first, with Scholastica scoring 10 unanswered points. Jake Jensen ran 3 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and Scholastica's kicker, Mike Theismann made a 19 yard field goal to put St. Scholastica up 24-0 at halftime.

Josh Frewin scored a 27 yard field goal in the 3rd quarter for GC's only points of the game. Unfortunately, St. Scholastica added 7 points to their score when Jensen ran 1 yard into the end zone to put Scholastica up 31-3.

Scholastica continued to score in the 4th, as Harper ran 1 yard once again for a touchdown and Mike LaValley haa an impressive73 yard interception return. GC was unable to get through the St. Scholastica defense and the game ended with a final score of 45-3 St. Scholastica.

Offensively, Greenville was lead by Immanuel Gable and Brendan Chambers. Gamble ran the ball 25 times for a total gain of 136 yards. Chambers added 93 rushing yards for the Panthers.

On defense, Cody Lopez made an impressive 18 tackles and Erik Eisenbeis was not far behind, recording 11 tackles in the game. Blake Bateaste and Robert Deering were credited with 9 and 8 tackles, respectively.

The men take tothe field again September 22 as they travel toMinnesota-Morris.
