Published: April 13, 2021

GC Alumnus Snyder Named Conservation Educator of the YearThe Conservation Federation of Missouri has named Robert Snyder 74 its 2015 Conservation Educator of the Year. The Federation recognized Snyder for his long history of conservation and wildlife management and helping nearly 900 students graduate with conservation-related degrees. A former professor of biology at Greenville College, Snyder currently serves as professor of conservation and wildlife management at College of the Ozarks.

Snyder received the award at a ceremony March 20, 2015, before an audience that applauded his unfailing encouragement of students to engage in conservation. He was recognized as well for the example he has set throughout his career for personal involvement:

  • His work as agricultural advisor missionary in Rwanda even as he served as professor at Baylor University.
  • His management as country director of Food for the Hungry International in Mozambique and then Kenya.
  • His leadership through Ozark Fisheries and Wildlife Association, which he founded.
  • His guidance to students as they pursue careers in conservation.
