Greenville College Announces the 1st Annual Andrews Lecture in Christian Unity

Greenville College's Bastian School of Theology, Philosophy, and Ministry and the 2016-2017 Andrews Fellow in Christian Unity, Dr. Benjamin D. Wayman, are pleased to announce the 1st Annual Andrews Lecture in Christian Unity.

The lecture, entitled That They May All be One: New Testament Images of Christian Unity," will be given by Dr. Michael J. Gorman, who holds the Raymond E. Brown Chair in Biblical Studies and Theology at St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. He has taught at St. Mary's since 1991, serving from 1995 to 2012 as the Dean of St. Mary's Ecumenical Institute. He has also been a visiting professor at Duke Divinity School and at two African institutions.

Gorman is the author of a dozen books and numerous articles in New Testament studies, biblical interpretation, and Christian ethics. His books include Apostle of the Crucified Lord and Reading Paul. Gorman received his B.A. in French from Gordon College and his M.Div. and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is a member of the Society for New Testament Studies, the editorial board of two journals, and the steering committee of several scholarly bodies. In 2005 he received the Fortress Press award for outstanding graduate theological teaching, and in 2015-16 he was a Henry Luce Fellow in theological scholarship.

The lecture will take place in the Whitlock Music Center at 7:00pm Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Dr. Gorman will also be speaking in Chapel at 9:30am that same day.
