CENTRALIA, Ill. Kaskaskia College students looking to obtain their state license in elementary education recently received some good news when Kaskaskia and Greenville colleges signed a new agreement that will provide students with a plethora of resources.

On Monday (October 26, 2015), the Board of Trustees at Kaskaskia College approved an undergraduate teacher education partnership between the two colleges that will provide KC students with additional advising as well as an early route to the Illinois teacher licensing.

The 2+2 agreement also allows Greenville College to recruit students for their four-year elementary education program.

After the board unanimously approved the agreement on Monday, KC professor Erin Landers expressed her appreciation with the administration of both colleges before highlighting the impact of the agreement.

This 2+2 agreement is just another opportunity for us to better advise our students and create opportunity for students who want to become teachers and help meet the needs of teachers in our region and throughout the state, said Landers.

Going over the history of the two colleges working together, Landers explained that there was once a similar agreement between the two institutions. However, due to changes at the state level, the colleges were required to sign a new agreement.

We thought this would be a good time to revise the agreement and re-sign this to reaffirm our working relationship with Greenville College, said Landers.

According to this agreement, students in the undergraduate teacher education program at KC who enter the partnership program will have the opportunity to have dual admission status at both institutions.

We are excited about this opportunity, said Estevez. This partnership signals the hard work by many between our great institutions. As we continue to expand our heritage and expand our reach, our commitment to providing high quality educational experiences and programs will better facilitate our students to influence the world.
