Greenville's Brendan Chambers to Play Football in France

GREENVILLE, Ill.--Greenville's own Brendan Chambers has been hired by the The Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons, a French DII football team. Chambers will be their quarterback for the 2014 season.

The Bron-Villeurbanne Falconsplay in the Casque d'Or Championship (Golden Helmet) South Conference. Chambers will be on the French team from March to June of 2014.

Chambers will be the only American player onBron-Villeurbanne. In addition to playing quarterback for the team, Chambers will have the opportunity to coach youth teams.

In his four-year career at Greenville College, Chambers received three consecutive UMAC First Team quarterback spots, one in 2011, another in 2012, and again in 2013. This past season, the senior Panther was awarded the most one of the most prestigious UMAC Football awards, Offensive Player of the Year.

Chambers will play with the Falcons, a DII team located in Lyon's suburbs. Bron-Villeurbannewon the DIII Championship last June after an undefeated season. The team isexpectedto be extremely successful again this year.

"Brendan will be a tremendous asset to our team on and off the field" said Coach Gregg Campbell, the Falcons' new American head coach.

Chambers and his wife, Avery, are expected to land in France in early January. The entire GC community wishes the Chambers family the best of luck in France!
