GU's Krukewitt Lands Internship With NCAA's College World SeriesAdding NCAA Intern to Her Resume

Scoring an internship with a premier sports organization marks the climax of Hannahs relentless pursuit of internships. The NCAA opportunity is her fifth internship. She decided early in her college career to supplement her classroom learning with work experience.

I started my sophomore year of college with an internship at Farmers Insurance; I did that one solely for experience in marketing. I didnt receive any college credit, Hannah says.

When she transferred to GU and added sport management to her marketing major, she set a personal goal to fill her resume with sports-related marketing internships.

In addition to an internship with GUs marketing office, she interned with the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and Western Illinois University Athletics.

Don't Discount Volunteer Experience

I knew that I wanted some type of NCAA experience on my resume, so initially I started looking for volunteer opportunities at any NCAA tournament, says Hannah. I love baseball, and the CWS wouldnt interfere with my basketball season.

Hannahs search for volunteer opportunities also turned up internships. She soon discovered that she met the internship requirements for the CWS thanks to experiences from prior internships.

She knows that her work in June will include pre-event assembly; Opening Day activities; managing an assigned team, including keeping players on schedule for practices and games; and assisting with the preparation and execution of games.

Advice to Peers: Go For It!

Hannah urges fellow students to pursue internships even when the chance of securing one may seem slim.

Go for it and apply; you never know! Use every opportunity and connection you have to your advantage. Dont be afraid to put yourself out there . . . Be willing to do the small things.

She also advises sharing the joy of others when they score a win. Support other people, she urges. Be happy for your friends and understand that your time will come!
