Holiday Concerts Scheduled at Greenville University

Published: April 13, 2021

Greenville University is proud to showcase two different bands in its holiday concerts this season.

The Jazz Band will share a jingly mix of Christmas tunes at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5 in Whitlock Music Center, on the corner of Elm and College. Featuring a festive jazz feel, plus the rich vocals of Emelia Ferrero, this cant-miss concert will leave you bright and cheerful!

The eighth annual Christmas by the Fireside concert begins at 7 p.m. Sunday evening, December 10, also in Whitlock Music Center. The Greenville University Concert Band hosts an old-fashioned musical event to set a nostalgic tone for your Advent and Christmas season. The second of four major performances in the Greenville University Band concert series, Christmas by the Fireside features emeritus faculty member Dr. Dan Jensen narrating the concert from his chair by the fire as the band shares the seasons cherished traditional carols and fun Christmas songs.

Bring the whole family for this memorable event and enjoy special post-concert refreshments by Robert and Vicki Ellsworth. Savor the sparkling sounds of Christmas, sing along with carols, and visit for an hour or so by the fireside.

Admission to both concerts is free and open to the public. The bands are under the direction of Will Fairbanks, who since his arrival at the University in 2010 has expanded the instrumental music program to include the Greenville University Marching Panther Regiment marching band and the basketball pep band, in addition to the concert and jazz bands.
