Invitation for Public Comment: Upcoming Higher Learning Commission Evaluation of Greenville College

Greenville College will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit March 14-15, 2016, by a team representing the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This process is a regular part of maintaining accreditation. Greenville College has been accredited by HLC since 1948. Its accreditation allows the College to award Bachelors and Masters degrees on its main campus, online and at various sites in Illinois.

The Higher Learning Commission is one of six accrediting agencies providing institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Institutional accreditation evaluates an entire college as a whole while other agencies provide accreditation according to a specific program such as teacher education or social work. Accreditation is voluntary. The Higher Learning Commission accredits over 1,000 institutions of higher education in a nineteen-state region and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. Written, signed comments must be received by February 14, 2016. The Commission cannot guarantee that comments received after the due date will be considered. Comments should include the name, address, and telephone number of the person providing the comments. Comments will not be treated as confidential.

Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students.Founded in 1892 and affiliated with theFree Methodist Church, the college is located in Greenville, Illinois, 45 miles east of St. Louis.
