Jeff Wardlaw Promoted to Interim Head Soccer Coach

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville College men's and women's soccer programs will begin the 2012 season under new direction. After 11 seasons as head men's soccer coach and 10 seasons as head women's soccer coach, Brian McMahon has resigned to pursue a coaching opportunity with Belhaven University in Mississippi. Jeff Wardlaw, associate head men's and women's soccer coach, has been chosen as interim head coach of both Greenville programs.

Wardlaw came to Greenville College in 2005 as a graduate assistant coach in men's and women's soccer. He completed his appointment as graduate assistant in 2008 and returned in 2010 as associate head coach. In Wardlaw's six seasons connected to the program, the teams combined to accrue an overall record of 157-87-21. The men went 84-38-16 while the women's record stood at 73-49-5. The men participated in the 2008, 2010, and 2011 NCAA national tournaments and the 2007 NCCAA national tournament. The men finished the 2010 and 2011 seasons in the NCCAA top ten national poll.

Wardlaw has been vital in assisting McMahon create a very competitive and nationally recognized program. Wardlaw has coached at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. As associate head coach, Wardlaw served as a coaching director and primary recruiting coordinator. He also assisted McMahon in day to day operations and player development of both men's and women's programs.

As a player, Wardlaw competed at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. While there, he captained a No. 1 ranked team in the NCCAA that made two national tournament appearances and competed in the NAIA regional finals twice. While at Cumberlands, he was a two-year captain and received all-conference honors. As a young player Wardlaw competed in national championships with Team KC, a premier club in the Kansas City area.

Wardlaw received his bachelor of arts in psychology from Mid-America Nazarene University in 2000. After graduation, he worked as a supervisor and team leader at TLC for Children and Families, a boys' and girls' home in Olathe, Kan. Wardlaw completed his master of arts in teaching from Greenville College in 2008.

Wardlaw currently resides in Edwardsville, Ill., with his wife Kristen.
