LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The men's track and field team obtained their first points of the NCAA Division III championships as junior Josh Kuusisto took fourth place in the hammer throw en route to an All-American finish.

Kuusisto's toss of 58.96 meters was his first of the afternoon and was good enough to allow him to advance to the finals of the event. His other two preliminary attempts were fouls. After a foul on his first try of the finals, he threw 56.15 meters and a final heave of 60.29 meters to give him fourth place.

Kuusisto's All-American showing gave Greenville five points in the team standings and a placement of 19th in the nation after the second day of the three-day championships.

In other action, sophomore Bruce Gray was first in his preliminary heat of the 100 meter dash to qualify for the finals on Saturday.

Gray ran 10.49 seconds in the event and held the third best mark overall.

Saturday's final day of the championships will see Gray compete in the 100 and 200 meter dashes at 4:10 p.m. and 5:20 p.m., respectively.
