GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Greenville Women's Basketball team is ready for their season to begin and, with a strong senior class and an impressive freshman class, 2012-2013 looks to be a promising year for the team.

Last year, the team finished their season with a record of 7-18 overall, going 4-12 in the SLIAC. The Lady Panthers averaged 61.4 points per game, but failed to qualify for the SLIAC Tournament.

Greenville adds 11 new players to the program this season, one of the largest recruiting classes women's basketball has seen. Those new faces will look to fill the void left by last season's five graduates, including starting point guard, Emmalee Fladland. Fladland averaged points and 3.7 rebounds per game, contributing heavily to the team both offensively and defensively.

Fortunately, Greenville has many strong veteran players returning, including 4 of team's top scorers and regular starters from last season. Seniors, Ieisha Adams, Emily Gundy, Laura Hobbie, and Katelyn Wise who, together,  accounted for over 60% of the team's total points scored, will all be leaders for GC. Wise led the team in scoring, recording an average of 11.68 points per game and a 49.2 field goal percentage. Adams was the top rebounder for GC last year, grabbing an average of 5.6 per game and making a total of 31 steals. Hobbie and Gundy are also expected to lead the team this year on both sides of the court.

2012-2013 marks GC head coach, Roy Mulholland's, 14th year at the reigns of the women's team. He expects the season to be successful and is excited to begin.

The Lady Panthers kick-off their season Friday, Nov. 16 as they travel to Fulton, Mo. to take on Rhodes College in the Westminster Tip-Off Classic Tournament.
