Lady Panther Tennis Gets a Win in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C.-- The GC women's tennis team redeemed themselves from their yesterday's loss to Fairmont State with a solid 7-2 victory over Heidelberg.

Doubles play went well for the Panthers, with the duo of Lexi Baysinger and Kristen Lynch sweeping their opponents 8-0 in the #2 spot. The team of Abby Maurer and Chelsie Evans also came out with a 8-5 win in a tough #3 battle.

Singles also favored GC, as the team took 5 of the 7 matches. Jamie Harling won her close#1 match with set scores of 6-1, 7-5, (10-8). Baysinger gained a 6-4, 6-0 win in the #3 match. Kristin Minshall also nabbed the victory, with a #4 spot 6-1, 6-1 win. Evans continued her winning ways withscoresof6-0, 7-5 in the #5 spot. Lastly, Kat Kennedy beat her #6 Heidelberg opponent 6-2, 6-3.

This win bring the ladies to a 2-1 overall record. The team will take the court again tomorrow as they take on Edgewood and Baldwin-Wallace to continue their Spring Break play.
