Men's basketball knocks off first place Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team outscored Westminster 61-46 in the second half as the Panthers took a two point halftime advantage and parlayed it into a 114-97 win on Wednesday night. Michael Hohm led Greenville with 21 points, five assists, and five steals.

Tim Daniel was number two in the scoring column with 18 points. Kenny Greene chipped in 16, Shane Smith had 12, and Andrew Scott tallied 10.

The Panthers forced 24 turnovers while gathering 16 steals.

Greenville's largest advantage was 19 points with 10:56 to play.

The GC team shot at a 45.3 percent rate (39-of-86) and made 17-of-42 three-pointers. The squad was 19-of-30 at the free throw line.

The Panthers (7-11, 6-5 SLIAC) sit in a tie for fourth place with seven games to play. Three teams are above them in the standings with 7-4 marks. Greenville travels to Blackburn for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday.
