CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The men's soccer team came from behind to take a 2-1 win over Blackburn on Saturday to run their early season record to 2-0 in conference play.

The Panthers saw Blackburn jump out to the early lead with the opening goal in the 17th minute.

Edgar Bueno answered Blackburn's goal with an assist from Jonny Madrid in the 31st minute.

The game winning goal came from Jacob Jones in the 78th minute as Madrid again provided the assist.

Goalkeeper Ian Hodge had two saves for Greenville.

The Panthers outshot the Beavers by a 17-3 margin.

"It was a hard fought win and all credit to Blackburn who came out and battled," said head coach Chris Swift. "It's always good to start conference 2-0, and we are happy to have six points out of six on the board."

"We conceded the first goal and dug ourselves a hole, but the guys responded well to the setback."

"We got the goal back before halftime through Bueno, a great goal for his first collegiate goal, and then we told the team at halftime to keep chipping away and we would find the winner."

"It's really fitting that the winner came from Jones, he is developing a knack of breaking Blackburn hearts."

"Overall it was a solid performance in very difficult conditions and I'm proud that the guys were able to find a way to win the match."

The Panthers (5-7) host Spalding on Thursday at 5 p.m.
