Published: April 13, 2021

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its all-conference recipients in men's soccer. Jonny Madrid earned the Newcomer of the Year award.

Madrid, a freshman from Grayslake, Ill., led the youth movement this year for Greenville, helping them reach the SLIAC Tournament. Madrid netted 13 goals while adding six assists and finished tied for second in the league with 32 total points. Madrid becomes just the third player from Greenville to be named Newcomer of the Year, joining Matt Reeb in 2007 and David Dunlap in 2008.

Greenville College received the SLIAC Team Sportsmanship Award for the third time in program history. The Panthers also received the award in 2006 and 2011. The team Sportsmanship Award, created in 2005, is given to the team whose players, coaches and fans best exhibit the principles of good sportsmanship.

Earning first team honors were Madrid, senior defender Richie Hershkowitz, and freshman midfielder Edgar Bueno.

Second team honors were obtained by senior defender Elliot Thompson and freshman goalkeeper Ian Hodge.

Freshman midfielders Caleb Mulholland and Chad Juneau were on the third team.

The 2015 All-Sportsmanship Team included Justin Mulholland.

The Panthers ended a bounce back season with an overall record of 10-10 (7-2 SLIAC).
