Men's Soccer Shuts Out Earlham

Published: April 13, 2021

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The men's soccer team opened their season with a 1-0 win over Earlham. Brent Lehr tallied the lone Greenville goal with 18:41 remaining in the game.

Goalkeeper Thomas Crown was perfect as he stopped four shots.

Greenville was outshot 10-5.

"It's always nice to start the season with a win and a clean sheet," said head coach Chris Swift. "We struggled to keep clean sheets last season so to keep one out of the gates sets a good tone for the season. Huge credit for that goes to our center backs Richie Hershkowitz and Josh Ripperger, who kept us calm and organized in the back."

"I am really happy for Brent Lehr that he came up with the goal. We have worked hard on set pieces and assistant coach Sasha Viatrov kept the team organized. Brent was in the right place at the right time and took his goal very well."

"It's important that we put this win behind us and focus on the next one tomorrow."

The Panthers (1-0) play at Anderson on Saturday.
