AURORA, Ill. The mens soccer team earned a 1-1 tie at Aurora on Friday. Jacob Jones scored for Greenville, and Thomas Crown had five saves.
Aurora outshot Greenville 27-7, but Greenville made the most of its limited opportunities, scoring on one of its three shots on goal.
Jones had two shots on goal, and Spencer Pulliam had one shot on goal.
Greenville led 1-0 at the intermission, but Aurora knotted up the score just 3:42 into the second half.
It was another gritty performance, said head coach Chris Swift. Our young team is growing up quickly. We fought hard to get a result on the road, and we dug in and gave ourselves a great chance to win this game.
Thomas was immense again in goal and came up with a great save in overtime to keep us going. Aurora is a very good, well coached team who are going to give a lot people fits.
