GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's soccer team earned a tough fought 1-0 win over Spalding on Thursday. Josh Ripperger scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.

"Rip came up huge for us tonight," said head coach Chris Swift. "When he got that ball and got beyond their defenders, I knew he was going to park that shot. He has done it so many times before in games and practice. Jonny continues to make us tick and his ball to release Rip was perfect."

"I am super proud of my seniors tonight," said head coach Chris Swift. "We struggled in the first half, and we challenged our seniors to put this team on their back and to lead us to victory. Richie, ET, Parker, and Dillon did just that. We came out in the second half a completely different team and fought."

"We have started conference great, and we can sleep well tonight knowing we took care of our business, but we get back at it tomorrow as we prepare for another huge conference match against Fontbonne. We aren't satisfied with 3-0, we need to keep our heads down and keep working."

The Panthers (6-7, 3-0 SLIAC) host Fontbonne Saturday at 7 p.m.
