Men’s track and field led by pair of NCCAA national championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio The mens track and field team earned sixth of 19 scoring teams at the NCCAA indoor national championships on Friday and Saturday. Senior Bruce Gray led the squad with national titles in the 55 meter and 200 meter dashes.

Greenville totaled 47 points in the meet as they had two first, one second, one third, one fourth, and two fifth place finishes.

Four Greenville entries earned NCCAA All-American status.

The group of Greenville All-Americans was led by Grays two championships.

Gray posted a 55 meter dash time of 6.39 in the finals to set an NCCAA national record. He entered the finals with the third fastest time of the preliminaries as he ran 6.43 to rank third in the field and first in his heat.

In the 200 meter dash, Gray finished in 22.14 seconds to break his own field house record and collect a title.

Greenvilles NCCAA All-American 4x800 meter relay team of Nathan Allyn, Andrew Sharp, Parker Wray, and Nathan Potts posted a race time of 8:00.34 to place second by four hundredths of a second.

The final Panther to obtain All-American status was Bryan Waugh whose 16.50 meter throw (54-1.75) took third.

The Panthers will compete at Wisconsin Stevens Point on Saturday, March 7, in the Pointers NCAA Qualifier.
