Men's volleyball clinches winning season

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The men's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday in Cincinnati. They defeated Illinois Tech in three sets in the second match of the day after dropping the opening match in three sets to Mt. St. Joseph.

The Panthers opened the day with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-22 loss at Mt. St. Joseph, who is in contention for a MCVL tournament position.

Greenville was unable to hit better than .172 in any set as they struggled to convert their attacks.

Johnny Milabu was the top attacker for the Panthers as he had seven kills and one error in 16 attacks. He added a dig and a block assist.

The Bilinski brothers - Nicolas and Daniel - produced six kills. Daniel added a solo block and two block assists.

Setter Tanner Smith had 23 assists, and Andrew Johnson posted eight digs.

Greenville dominated the day's second match, posting a brisk 55 minute 25-20, 25-13, 25-14 win over winless Illinois Tech.

Playing everybody on the active roster, the Panthers received a match-high 10 kills from Nicolas Bilinski and seven kills from Kyle Ward.

Smith passed out 25 assists.

Andrew Johnson flexed his defensive muscles, posting nine digs. Daniel Bilinski added eight digs and three service aces.

Cooper Eaker was a force at the net with two solo blocks. Milabu contributed one solo block and two block assists.

The Panthers (14-11, 4-7 MCVL) conclude their season in two weeks with MCVL matches on Friday, April 1, at North Central and a Saturday, April 2, contest at Loras.
