Men's volleyball era opens with pair of victories

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The men's volleyball team started their new program in fine fashion as they picked up a pair of victories against Brooklyn and MCVL conference rival Fontbonne on Saturday night.

In the inaugural match against Brooklyn, the Panthers eased to a 25-10, 25-6, 25-9 win.

The Panthers hit at a rate of .578 as they posted 31 kills and five errors in 45 attacks.

Daniel Bilinski posted eight kills to lead Greenville. Tanner Smith provided 23 assists.

Andrew Johnson was active with five digs and three block assists. Johnny Milabu also added three block assists.

In the night's final match, the Panthers came from behind to record a five set, 20-25, 28-26, 21-25, 25-20, 15-11 win.

Daniel Bilinski was the leader in kills with 27, and Nicolas Bilinski added 14 kills. Smith posted 56 assists.

Nicolas Bilinski added 14 digs and Peter Binder ended the evening with 12 digs.

Kyle Ward had two solo blocks and four block assists.

The Panthers (2-0) host Lincoln in two exhibition matches on Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m. in Greenville.
