Men's volleyball just short at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The men's volleyball team competed at Wittenberg and came up on the wrong side of the 17-25, 25-18, 25-16, 27-25 final. The Panthers pushed the match as far as they could without taking it to a fifth set.

Nicolas Bilinski had a double-double in the match as he recorded 15 kills and 17 digs, helping on both the offensive and defensive side of the net.

His brother Daniel piled up nine kills.

Tanner Smith offered 37 assists, and Smith and Nicolas Bilinski provided two service aces.

Andrew Johnson gave Greenville a season-high 26 digs as he bettered his previous high of 12 digs in a match.

In Greenville's opening set win, they outhit Wittenberg by a .310 to .100 margin as the Panthers provided 12 kills and just three errors in 29 attacks. Wittenberg bettered Greenville with .333 and .238 hitting rates in the second and third sets, and Greenville lost the final set despite winning the hitting rate battle .233 to .173.

The Panthers (13-10, 4-6 MCVL) face a pair of opponents on Saturday as they travel to Mount St. Joseph to face MSJ and Illinois Tech.
