Men’s Basketball Pounds Principia 115-76; Keeps SLIAC Tournament in Sight

ELSAH, Ill. GC utilized a balanced and frantic scoring attack to post a season-high 115 points on SLIAC opponent Principia Monday night, and claimed the road win in Elsah, Ill. helping keep their post-season conference hopes alive.
Seniors K.J. Hilliard and Dondrale Campbell led Greenville in the win, each posting 16 points while grabbing four boards Monday night.
From tip-off Principia College was unable to keep up with the hard running and highflying Black & Orange. At the conclusion of first period play GC had already mounted a 60-39 margin. After intermission, Greenvillecontinued to run away with the game and finally closed the contest with a final score of 115-76.
The GC squad shot 54% from the field and out-rebounded the Gold and Blue of Principia 40-25. Greenville had balanced scoring with 5 players in double figures, and netted 9-20 (45.0%) from beyond the arc.
With the loss Principia falls to a winless 0-23 (0-14 SLIAC).
Claiming the win Greenville College mens basketball advances to 13-9 (8-6 SLIAC) and still remains hopeful for a bid to compete in the upcoming SLIAC Conference Tournament. GC will aim to take care of business on Monday, February 21 as they invite a talented Spalding team to H.J. Long Gymnasium. Monday nights contest will serve as GC senior night and the final regular season game of the 2012 season.
