Men's Cross Country Ranks 19th at NCAA Midwest Regional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The men's cross country season ended with a 19th place finish at the NCAA Division III midwest regional hosted by Augustana College. Senior Xavier Ortiz was Greenville's top runner, ranking 74th of 266 competitors with a time of 26:34.
Nearly all of Greenville's top five scoring runners finished in the top half of the field. Following Ortiz i was sophomore Bryant Simpson who placed 101st (26:56). The other top Greenville runners were senior Nathan Young (113th, 27:19), junior Ross Baker (133rd, 27:44), and junior Josh Dees (141st, 27:49).
The Panthers accumulated 561 pointsin their 19th place performance of the 39 competing teams. Fellow conference member PrincipiaCollege ranked above the Panthers with a 12th place finish, and Greenville defeated conference foes Westminster and Fontbonne who made the trip.
The meet was Greenville's final of the season.
