Men’s Soccer Falls 3-1 Under the Lights at No. 6 Washington University

ST. LOUIS, Mo. Greenville was bested by the no. 6 ranked NCAA DIII Washington University Bears on Saturday night by a score of 3-1.
With the loss, GC mens soccer moves to 2-3-3 on the season.
Washington opened the scoring in the sixth minute of play, to take the 1-0 lead. Both teams would remain close in first half action with the Bears holding the 1-0 margin heading into intermission.
The opening seconds of the second period were headlined by a WashU goal by Bear senior striker Dylan Roman. Roman would add another goal in the 53rd minute, sneaking a corner shot past Panther keeper Nathan Haas and extending the WUSTL lead to 3-0.
Greenville ended the shutout with a goal at 89:36 following a left-footed free kick from freshman David Cole. The goal ended the Bears scoreless streak of 438 minutes, a span of almost five games.
Mens Soccer will look to bounce back Saturday, September 24 as they host MacMurray at noon.
