Men's Soccer Tops Eureka 3-1, Wins SLIAC Regular Season Championship

EUREKA, Ill. -- The men's soccer team defeated Eureka 3-1 on Wednesday and earned their second consecutiveSt. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship in the process. As regular season conference champions, Greenville becomes the No. 1 seed in the four-team SLIAC tournament which begins Thursday, Nov. 4, in Greenville.

It took three goals in the last 12 1/2 minutes of the game to defeat Eureka.

In the 77th minute, Cobi Allen scored the Panthers first goal with an assist from Josh Mulholland.

Less than one minute later, Daniel Taylor tallied an unassisted goal to give Greenville the lead.

Dan Ruder tacked on a final goal in the last minute of the game.

The Panthers outshot Eureka 25-6, clearly controlling possession during the game.

Goalkeeper Nathan Haas posted two saves and allowed one goal.

The Panthers (13-5-1, 6-0-1 SLIAC) host Blackburn on Saturday at2 p.m.in their final game of the regular season. They play Webster on Thursday, Nov. 4, in the SLIAC semifinal at 3 p.m. If Greenville wins the semifinal, they will host the winner of Principia and Fontbonne in the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 6, at a time to be announced.
