ELSAH, Ill.-- The Panthers made the familiar trip to Elsah, IL to take on the defending conference champion Principia on Tuesday evening. The Panthers were once again forced to play inside due to inclement weather and fell in a close 4-5 match.

The Panthers would come up just short on this night. Principia took the early lead in the match by taking two of the three doubles matches. The team of Ryan Haas and Demetrius Bush played a very solid match at #3 doubles winning by a score of 8-5. Principia was able to secure wins at #1 doubles by a score of 8-1, and squeaked out a win at #2 doubles by a score of 8-6.

Headed into singles play, GC knew that they would have to win four of the six matches. Despite a solid performance overall, they were only able to win three. Alex Dowley won his match at #4 singles 6-1, 1-6, 6-1. Ryan Haas won at #5 singles 6-1, 6-1. And freshman Code Power won at #6 singles 7-6, 6-1.

The Panthers record now stands at 8-7 (2-2 in SLIAC). The Panthers will compete in the Concordia Invitational this weekend in St. Louis on April 19-20. They will close the regular season with a home match against Westminster next Tuesday, April 23.
