Published: April 13, 2021

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The men's track and field team sent just one man to the NCAA Division III indoor championships at North Central College, but sophomore Bruce Gray delivered as he lifted Greenville to a 29th place performance on the heels of his third place 60-meter sprint.

Entering the finals with the fourth fastest mark of the preliminaries, Gray leapfrogged Thierry Diessongo who had placed ahead of Gray in the preliminaries in collecting third place with a mark of 6.87 seconds. Thurgood Dennis of Wisconsin - Eau Claire won the event in 6.76 seconds.

The third place finish provided Gray with an All-American award and gave Greenville six points in the team standings. Sixty-three teams earned points. Greenville improved on the 2012 finish of 42nd place in its best national showing since 2010.

The men's track and field team will begin the outdoor portion of their season on March 22 in St. Louis, as they travel to Washington University for the first of three straight weekends competing at Francis Field.
