Panther Baseball Edged by Webster, 6-1

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The GC Baseball team could not top Webster and fell 6-1 to the SLIAC Powerhouse.

The game was tied at 0-0 until the third inning when Webster earned two runs to get on the scoreboard. The Gorlocks added another run in the fourth, two more in the fifth, and a final run in the eighth to secure the 6-1 win. Greenville's only run came in the seventh inning when Cole Lawson rounded home plate.

GC finished the game with 5 hits in their 31 at bats. Tyler Pilcher hit a double for the Panthers that sent Lawson home in the bottom of the seventh. Pilcher had Greenville's only RBI in the game.

Derek Reckmann was credited with the loss. He faced 38 batters and allowed 8 hits and 6 runs in the 7.2 innings he pitched. CJ Opp and Jason Collingwood were on the mound for GC. Opp faced 2 batters and allowed 1 hit and Collingwood faced 3 and did not allow any hits.

The Panthers record now stands at 8-19 (5-11 SLIAC). The team will play again on Thursday, April 25 in a double-header at Prinicipa.
