Pursuit to Lead Worship at FMYC 2017
Published: April 13, 2021
Planners for FMYC 2017 have tapped the worship band Pursuit from Greenville College to lead worship at its youth conference this summer. The event, sponsored by the Free Methodist Church, convenes on the Colorado State University campus June 26-30.
Leading large assembles in worship is a familiar role for Pursuit. The musicians often take the stage at church camps, retreats and conferences. They led youth worship at the most recent Annual Conference of the Free Methodist Church in Orlando, Florida.
Energized WorshipPursuits presence at FMYC 2017 promises something special, according to Marc Anderson, the groups tour manager. It will reprise last summer's lively collaboration at a youth conference in Chile between worship teams from the Greenville Free Methodist Church and Iglesia Centro Familiar de Adoracin, a church in Lota, Chile.
They are phenomenal musicians, says Anderson of the Chilean band. This will be a big team with lots of energy.
Praise That Transcends BordersInviting the Chileans to participate flowed from the shared goal of the Free Methodist denomination and Greenville College to serve globally in Christs name.
Its the denomination that I see very clearly as investing in its global ministries, explains Anderson. I see Greenville College with this huge diversity initiative in wanting to expand its reach across borders. This is a distinctively Free Methodist worship team, an international worship team.
Pursuits intent at FMYC 2017 will be to equip attendees to lead lives of worship.
This isnt about music, although thats our platform, explains Anderson. Our goal is to develop relationships that allow people to connect to the Lord more easily.
