Ring in the 2014 Christmas Season with Greenville College Bands

Greenville College is proud to showcase two different bands in their holiday concerts this season. At 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, the GC Jazz Band will share a jazzy seasonal mix of Christmas tunes in Whitlock Music Center. The cheerful, hour-long performance will featuring the full seventeen-piece big band along with the outstanding vocals of Aleah Jenkins and Kent Luster!

The fifth annual Christmas by the Fireside concert will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14 in Whitlock Music Center. The Greenville College Concert Band shares this old fashioned musical event to set a nostalgic tone for the Advent and Christmas season. Come a little early to explore the nativity scene display featuring a variety of crches (nativity scenes) from band members personal collections. Emeritus faculty member Dr. Dan Jensen will once again narrate the concert from his chair by the fire as the band shares the seasons cherished traditional carols and fun Christmas songs. This family-friendly event provides an opportunity to savor the sparkling sounds of Christmas, sing along with carols, and settle in for a warm Christmas by the Fireside. The second in the four-part concert band series, the Christmas concert will last approximately 75 minutes.

Admission to both concerts is free and open to the public. The bands are under the direction of Will Fairbanks who, since his arrival at GC in 2010, has expanded the instrumental music program to include the Greenville College Panther Corps marching band and the basketball pep band in addition to the concert and jazz bands.
