Schreder and Sutton Deliver Strong Performances at NCAA Regional Meet

Published: April 13, 2021

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. Freshman Aubree Schreder and Senior Michelle Sutton continued their exceptional seasons as they led the womens cross country team Saturday, Nov. 13 in the NCAA Regional Championships.

In a field of 263 women and 38 total teams competing, the Lady Panthers raced to a 26th place finish overall, and placed two individuals inside the top 30 finishers.

Senior Michelle Sutton completed the 5K course in 22:22 at a pace of just over six minutes per mile. Sutton, who is a three-time SLIAC individual champion, missed the NCAA National Championship cut by a mere four seconds Saturday.

Freshman Aubree Schreder, who has set several individual records in her freshman campaign, added another notch to her season accomplishments as her time of 22:18 ranks as the third fastest time in school history. Also Schreders 23rd place finish is the best for any Greenville womens runner at an NCAA regional meet, and earned her a ticket to advance to the NCAA Championships.

We are all incredibly excited for Aubree and everything that she has accomplished this year, stated Head Coach Brian Patton. It is important to remember however, that none of Aubrees success would have been possible without the leadership of Michelle. Michelle has taken Aubree under her wing and shepherded her all season long, and Aubree has benefited from Michelles knowledge and experience, concluded Patton.

As one of the top finishers not on a nationals' qualifying team, Schreder will get the chance to compete in Waverly, Iowa on Nov. 20 in the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships.
