Science and Engineering Camp for High School Students Set for July 10-22

Published: April 13, 2021

Scientific discovery knows no bounds; even toys are fair game for exploration. Just ask Emmanuel Nava, who built a photometer with LEGO bricks last summer at Greenville Colleges Science and Engineering Camp for high school students. The joy of toys segued neatly into the joy of scientific exploration as he put the device to work conducting spectroscopic analyses.

The Appeal of Discovery

This summer's Science and Engineering Camp, scheduled for July 10-22, builds on the appeal of scientific discovery for young people. Comments from last summers campers foretell another rewarding experience this July:

  • Amazing, I couldnt have asked for a better two weeks.
  • A wonderful experience, allowing me to grow in faith through scientific knowledge.
  • Absolutely worth doing!

Science and Engineering Camp for High School Students Set for July 10-22The camp brings young scientists to campus where, under the guidance of college professors, they use advanced instruments in GCs electronics, nanotech, quantum information and chemistry laboratories.

This camp wasnt just a science camp, reflected one participant. I learned to work well with others, balance work and play, and most importantly, to see other peoples gifts and how they use them.

If You Know Young Scientists . . .

Summer science has become a tradition at GC. As high school students participated in camp activities last summer, 18 of GCs student researchers engaged in full-time research, nine on campus and nine with universities and companies around the world.

If you know a young scientist who enjoys the thrill of discovery, contact Alisa Gunter for information about this summer's Science and Engineering Camp: phone 618-664-6525, or email alisa.gunter@greenville.edu.

We at GC believe that God created each student to uniquely shape the world. Your gift today to GCs Fund for Educational Excellence advances this work. Click here to give.
