Softball Ekes Past Westminster; Wins Four of Last Five

Published: April 13, 2021

FULTON, Mo. Saturdays double-header against Westminster helped add two more SLIAC decisions in the wins column for the GC club. Greenville took the road opener 6-2, and followed with a closely contested 9-8 win to complete the sweep. The Lady Panthers seem to have found their groove as of late, claiming four of their last five games while riding a four-game win streak.

On the mound in the first, Lindsay Schuberth picked up the win, tossing seven innings and giving up only two runs on six hits.

Angie Doherty led the Lady Panthers offensively, batting 2-for-4 with two RBI to help guide GC to the 6-2 victory.

Greenville looked to be in some trouble in the capper, trailing 8-6 heading into the seventh and needing some magic in the final inning. A clutch two-RBI double by Brya Irving and a well placed SAC bunt by Rachel Ramp helped give the Lady Panthers the close 9-8 margin for the win.

Schuberth again earned the win, coming relief and pitching two shutout innings with two strikeouts. With the victory Schuberth now holds a record of 5-8 on the season.

Brya Irving controlled the plate for GC with three RBI while batting 3-for-4.

With the wins Greenville Softball now moves to 8-13, (3-3 SLIAC) and will look to defend Lady Panther Field against Fontbonne on Thursday, April 14.
