Published: April 13, 2021

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - GC softball saw their 2012 season come to a close over the weekend as the club was blanked in first round play 5-0 by eventual champion Fontbonne, and was then ousted 7-4 by Blackburn in the eliminator at ABC Park.

In the tournament's first game, The Panthers ran into Fontbonne junior Kourtney VonBehren who threw a complete-game shutout allowing just five hits in seven innings while striking out nine. The Black & Orange struggled to get going offensively and were blanked 5-0 in the opener.

Thursday nights elimination game pitted GC against Blackburn College, as the Panthers looked for some revenge after dropping a pair to the Beavers in their seasons closer. However, the Beavers of Blackburn had other ideas and dealt the GC squad a 2012 campaign ending 7-4 defeat.

Greenville College softball finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 14-25 (8-8 SLIAC) and qualified for their third consecutive SLIAC tournament.
