Softball knocks off first place Eureka in DH split

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team defeated Eureka in one of two games as the program celebrated its seniors with a 2-1 win in the first game followed by a 2-1 loss in game two.

Game 1 Recap

Bryn McKie went 3-for-3 at the plate as the Lady Panthers took a 2-1 victory in game one.

McKie singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Brianna Anderson shut down Eureka College Red Devils while she was on the rubber. Anderson held Eureka College Red Devils hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Eureka scored its only run of the game in the fifth inning.

The Lady Panthers scored both runs in the fifth on an error and an RBI single by Andrea Martin.

Game 2 Recap

Brianna Anderson struck out seven batters in seven innings, but she was not provided enough offense to notch a victory as Greenville fell to Eureka 2-1 in game two.

Bryn McKie was solid at the plate for the Panthers.

McKie went 3-for-4 and scored one run. She tripled in the first inning and singled in the second and seventh innings.

Anderson took the loss for the Panthers.

Eureka jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a solo home run.

In the first inning, the Panthers pushed across their only run of the day on an RBI double by Tiffany Samsoe.

The Lady Panthers (13-15-1, 8-2 SLIAC) face Westminster on Monday at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader.
