CLERMONT, Fla. -- The softball team opened their Spring Break trip with a pair of losses in Florida. The Lady Panthers dropped the opening game 12-3 to Hope in five innings and lost to North Central 9-0 in the second game.

Hope Recap

The Panthers racked up six hits, but it wasn't enough to give them a win against Hope.

Cayla Speaks took the loss for Greenville when she allowed 12 runs in 3 1/3 innings.

The Panthers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. The Panthers' threat began with a single by Andrea Martin who went to second on a wild pitch. Bryn McKie walked, and Tiffany Samsoe was hit by a pitch.

Cassandra Lueking singled with the sacks jammed, scoring Martin and Bryn McKie.

The Panthers added another run when Lueking scored on an RBI single by Shannon Elbe.

Hope took the lead, and it stayed with them for the rest of the game when they got four runs in the first. Hope piled on two more runs in the bottom of the second and built upon its lead with a run in the third and five runs in the fourth.

North Central Recap

Despite two hits from both McKie and Samsoe, the Lady Panthers were shut out by North Central.

Catie Opp showed a good ability to locate the strike zone, allowing no walks. The Lady Panthers' pitcher pitched four innings, allowing four earned runs and eight hits while striking out one.

North Central tallied a single run in the games first, second, and sixth innings, and posted three runs in the third and seventh innings.
