Softball sees eight recognized as all-conference

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The softball team was represented by eight entries on the SLIAC all-conference team.

Leading the way was first team outfielder Bryn McKie. McKie led the Lady Panthers with a .483 batting average,47 runs scored,72 hits, five triples, and 28 stolen bases. She was second in slugging percentage (.658) and on base percentage (.497). Her three home runs were third. She tied for fourth with seven doubles.

Andrea Martin, Becca Oldham, and Jessica Laubecher were all second team honorees.

Martin was second on the team with eight doubles and fourth on the team with 44 hits and 23 RBI. She was fifth with a .338 batting average.

Oldham ranked second with five home runs and third with a batting average of .374, slugging percentage of .569, on base percentage of .432, 35 runs scored, 46 hits, and 24 RBI. Her seven doubles and four stolen bases was fourth.

Laubecher was second on the team with eight doubles and 27 RBI. She found herself fourth in batting average (.339), fifth in slugging percentage (.452), on base percentage (.381), hits (42), and home runs (2).

Tiffany Samsoe, Hannah Burger, and Shannon Elbe got third team awards.

Samsoe was Greenville's leader with a slugging percentage of .894, an on base percentage of .519, 14 home runs, 57 RBI, and 11 doubles. She was second on the team with a batting average of .477, 36 runs scored, 63 hits, and 10 stolen bases.

Burger compiled a record of 16-7 with an ERA of 3.38. She struck out 71 over 151.1 innings. She appeared in 28 games of which 22 were starts. She recorded one save and finished five games.

Elbe found herself on the Lady Panther leaderboard with three home runs and two triples.

Anaya Tobiason was Greenville's selection to the all-sportsmanship team. Tobiason was second on the team with three triples and 10 stolen bases. She was fourth in slugging percentage (.461), on base percentage (.402), and runs scored (25).

Greenville finished the season with a record of 24-17, placing second in the SLIAC during regular season play and in the SLIAC tournament.
