Softball splits at Westminster

FULTON, Mo. -- The softball team picked up a win and loss on Wednesday at Westminster as they fell 6-5 in the first game in extra innings before winning the second game 5-2.

Bryn McKie continued her hot spring as she was 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI in game one. Her two-run homer in the top of the seventh tied the game.

Both teams matched each others scoring with one run each in the third and two runs each in the fourth inning. Westminster took a 5-3 lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

McKie's heroics tied the game in the seventh, but Westminster won the game when they pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth.

Hannah Burger pitched the complete game for Greenville as she went seven innings, giving up six runs, three earned, on 13 hits.

Game two belonged to Greenville as they led 4-1 after two innings and won 5-2.

McKie homered for the second time on the afternoon as she was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Tiffany Samsoe was 2-for-3 with one run, a home run, and four RBI.

Jessica Laubecher pitched a seven inning complete game with two runs allowed on 10 hits.

The Lady Panthers (20-13, 11-3 SLIAC) host Fontbonne on Thursday at 4 p.m.
